E dagli anni ’50 facciamo un balzo in avanti nei primissimi anni 2000, con il gruppo musicale britannico dei Gorillaz, formata nel 1998 da Damon Albarn (frontman dei Blur) e il fumettista Jamie Hewlett durante la loro convivenza in un appartamento a Notting Hill.
La cartoon band è costituita da quattro personaggi animati: 2D (cantante e tastierista), Murdoc Niccals (bassista e fondatore del gruppo), Noodle (chitarrista) e Russel Hobbs (batterista).
La musica del gruppo è frutto di una collaborazione tra diversi artisti, essendo Albarn l’unico personaggio reale permanente.

Il loro primo successo è stato “Clint Eastwood” (2001), arrivato primo in classifica in Italia nello stesso anno: il video e lo stesso nome del brano sono un riferimento al famoso film con l’attore Clint Eastwood Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, il cui tema può essere sentito all’inizio del video.

Io però vi propongo “Feel Good Inc.” (2005), canzone tratta dal loro secondo album.
Il brano è caratterizzato da alcune strofe cantate dal gruppo hip hop statunitense De La Soul che con un insolito stile di alternative hip hop unito allo stile britpop del brano si è aggiudicato il Best Pop Vocal Collaboration ai Grammy Awards 2005.
